Homemade kebab spice mix – no sugar!

March 1, 2016 af Jane Faerber 1 Comment

Homemade kebab spices - sugar-free recipe --> MyCopenhagenKitchen.com

I absolutely don’t mind buying store bought spice mixes as long as the quality is okay and they aren’t loaded with sugar, modified starch and the like. I won’t pay for it and I won’t eat it!

The other day, the boys came home from the supermarket and asked me to make kebab for dinner. I usually buy kebab / shawarma spice mix at a little ethnic store close to where I live, but I had run out. So I needed to make my own spice mix in order to fulfill the very specific demand from the boys.

So I made my own spice mix and it came out really nice. Very good combination of spicy and aromatic. I love spice mixes with aromatic spices like cinnamon and ground cloves. Love!

1 JAR

  • 2 tablespoons of ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon of ground coriander
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of paprika (use smoked paprika if you can)
  • 1 tsp of ground cloves
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1 tsp of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp of turmeric
  • 1 tsp of black pepper
  • 0,5 tsp of ginger

DIRECTIONS

Mix all spices and put them in a jar or any type of airtight container. That’s it! Easy, huh?

    How much of the mix do you use per 500g mix of mince?
